MATT + MIRANDA

Modern 8 Films first wedding of 2012 blew in off the California coastline as Miranda Becker and Matt Pitts exchanged vows on this windy Santa Barbara day. Despite the downpour of rain the day before the wedding, Miranda was beaming with joy and excitement as she gave her rehearsal dinner speech and reflected on the past 6 years that had led them to this event. It was such a sweet moment and Modern 8 was so glad to be present for it. Matt and Miranda, we hope this film captures the laughter, warmth, and love of your day. And to steal a quote from the ceremony, “May the road rise to meet you, and may the wind be always at your backs, as you travel on this journey together.” Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for allowing us to tell your story.

MONICA & NEIL

A gorgeous super 8 wedding in the Colorado Rockies. Destination weddings always have such an intimate feel, large or small, and this was no exception. Friends and family traveled from near and far to honor and witness the marriage of Neil Patrick Stewart and Monica Raymund (Lie To Me). Becoming part of something that was truly meaningful for all in attendance. From the mountainside nuptials to the cozy cabin reception, Modern 8 was surrounded by inspiration at this rustic cabin wedding. We had a blast working alongside photographer Carl Zoch… here’s a sneak peak at their super awesome photos.

LOVINE, KAT & NICKEL
It’s often said that “it’s about the journey not the destination” but for this couple it was about the journey AND the destination.

Wonder and exploration have been part of Lovine and Kat’s history from the beginning… But the desert has always been a special, magical place for them. A place where there was always something new to see, new to explore, an ever changing landscape. As they started to plan their wedding they knew exactly where to go… back to Death Valley. They had been there before but never like this..

Our journey with them began at a gas station off the 395. As they pulled into the station in their red VW bus (affectionately called “Vanessa”) the crew piled out… Kat, Lovine, Nickel the dog, and a few friends. It was the day before the wedding. We had a quick pow-wow about the route we were about to take into the park and then off we went. The first day of shooting started at the park entrance sign, for a jumping shot of course, and then we continued on down into Death Valley.. Down, down, and down some more until we were 100 feet below sea level. The rest of their family soon followed. We randevu’d at The Furnace Creek Ranch for a steak dinner and a good night’s sleep before heading out into the great unknown the following morning.

The next day started out like any other wedding: a white dress, a groom, flowers, family… But then we started our trek. We were headed out 80 miles to the wedding site and family camping trip turned reception. 60 miles on pavement with a few classic stops: Zabriski Point, The Devil’s golf course, Stovepipe Wells, and Ubehebe Crater. Then the last 20 miles off road to The Racetrack Playa. Places they had been before, but never like this…

Finally we arrived at The Racetrack… Named after the mysterious “moving rocks” on the flattest surface found in nature… A perfect place for an adventurist wedding. There were vows, rings, a kiss and celebration… but still nothing like any other wedding day. Then off to dry camp to set up tents, eat BBQ, and sing campfire songs. On a whim we set up a time lapse of the stars and then crawled into our sleeping bags. We have filmed many weddings, but never like this…

MARK & JILL
In Mark’s (Fish) circle of friends, nicknames are very important. They are a sign of love and acceptance. In the years since Jill (The Bean) has joined the group, she has earned five nicknames. Maybe ‘Mrs. Fish’ will be another well earned nickname? We loved filming these two and there fun loving friends at The Grand Del Mar. TIFFANY + DAVID
A fun old fashioned wedding a the US Grant Hotel in downtown San Diego. Captured on HD Video and Super 8 Film. We were joined by DeShai Roberson of Oh So Chic Events. Congrats Tiffany & David!!

CASEY + JEN
An early morning surf session with the groom brings much anticipation for what lies ahead on the wedding day. Will he make it on time? Will he make it through his vows? Will she? Not to worry, this story has a happy ending:) Captured with a mixture of HD video and super 8 film. Coordinated by Bre Nelson of Joyful Weddings & Events, florals and design by Kelsey Jones of Daises of Our Lives, and photographed by our good friend Lane Dittoe at The Inn at Rancho Santa Fe.

GEOFF + RICKI
What happens when it rains on your wedding day? You pull out the umbrellas, send someone to Target for rain boots, and get married anyways. This super 8 and HD wedding video was filmed at The Rancho Bernardo Inn, Photographed by Ben Chrisman and coordinated by Jessie Abrams.

ADAM+MAURISSA

“You gotta be kidding me” was all he could say when he saw her for the first time. Adam was speechless and Maurissa was glowing. Their day culminated in a very special moment on the dance floor that drives the story of this film. A San Diego Wedding Video filmed at Estancia Resort & Spa. We were joined by photographer Justin Lee and coordinator Alexandra RoseLee of A.R. Affairs.

SUMATI + VINOD
To commit, provide, give friendship, support, share, laugh and love… Vinod’s seven promises. As Vinod would later state at the reception, wealth is not measured by money but by the people in one’s life. On this day, Vinod felt like the richest man in the world. This Orange County Wedding Video was filmed at the St. Regis in Dana Point, photographed by Dina Douglass of Andrena Photography & coordinated by Stacy Porras.

AN IRISH WEDDING
They fell in love in San Diego so it only made sense to bring their loved ones from far and wide here for this one special weekend. The historic Hotel Del Coronado was the perfect setting. We really loved this irish inspired wedding with green accents throughout (check out Katy’s shoes!) A job well done by Organic Elements, Tim Otto Photography and the lovely Sabrina Cadini from La Dolce Idea events.
